Let me explain..

RELEASES

Our album release date will be announced very soon, it's going to be in Jan/Feb 2010 now so we have enough time to promote it. We're truly sorry to have kept you waiting so long.

In the meantime we've just found out that 'And Suddenly' (our cover of the Left Banke out now on Slumberland Records as a split single with George Washington Brown) will be featured on an indiepop compilation from Rough Trade - more details coming soon!

YO, TAMBIEN

You can hear a couple of our songs in the film 'Yo, También' ('Me, Too') which is about the life of Pablo Pineda (who stars in the film), the first European with Down Syndrome to achieve a university degree. We're honoured to be part of such a beautiful film, it's out in October 09. Hopefully it'll be in an independent cinema near you soon..

Here's the trailer, which features 'I Don't Believe in Love' from the Let It Slip EP, a duet between Liz and our old drummer Rob, who is now better known as The Voluntary Butler Scheme. xx

Say you'll come out..

Italy!

We had such a lovely time in Italy! We've just got back after not much sleep on last night (about 2 hours) before our early flight!

Our first show was in Forli at the Diagonal Loft Club, with lots of people dancing, singing along and inserting their own handclap sections! Lovely to meet you all!

The DJ also played lots of current UK indiepop bands that we love like Their Hearts Were Full of Spring, Pocketbooks and The Hermit Crabs..

Pescara was at the Mono Spazio Bar which was ace, where Pete + the Pirates and Parenthetical Girls were also about to play..
After Pescara we tried visiting Rome! We managed to get about 1.5 hours there and found the Collesseum, but didn't have enough time to go in. It was very hot and we ate lots of icecream!
We also saw lots of nuns in Rome, here's a photo of some of them at the services - smoking nuns!

We had loads of fun at Extra Alt Club in Recanati, cool music in both rooms and a huge venue with great sound on top of a hill. 4 pizzas! We met lots of lovely people, there was a very large merch queue! Thank you to Circus Worm for letting us use their equipment..

Next was Feedback in Foligno on a Saturday night - you people are crazy! A clubnight run by the fantastic Paola superstar, it all got a bit busy and clubby after we played so we left you all to it! Again, we went to the town centre and ate lots of icecream. This is where we met Ji-Jo!

The last show was in La Limonaia Music Club in Fucecchio, another venue on top of a hill, which looked like a wedding reception from the outside. We stayed in a monastry in a bridge which is now a hostel.
Many thanks to Chiara + Matteo from Organetta for arranging the tour and to all the promoters for looking after us with great shows, food and accommodation. xxx

Latitude

Huw Stephens invited us to play the Lake Stage at Latitude 2008, we had an amazing time - the festival is so well organised and it's good to see people putting in effort to organise something so unique to all the others. We brought some balloons but couldn't get them all blown up in time, it's a lot harder than it looks! Plenty ended up in the crowd though.

We want to say thanks to Phil who worked at Latitude for helping us put our tents up. For the record everyone we are capable of putting up tents, but it was great having someone there to check you're ok, all the staff were really helpful.

We saw ace bands on Saturday + Sunday like Soko / Noah and the Whale / Grinderman / Breeders / Tim and Sam's Tim and the Sam Band with Tim and Sam / Blondie / Lykke Li / Wave Pictures / The Voluntary Butler Scheme / Johnny Flynn.

Here's the lovely crowd, look at you all! And here's the Voluntary Butler sign lady too! And Harri playing kazoo on Shoulder.

THANK YOU to Huw for allowing us and some other really great up+coming bands to play at Latitude without having to go through a silly battle of the bands friends voting process like all the other festivals seem to be doing these days or to suck up to someone who knows someone who knows someone etc.. . it's the only UK festival we were asked to play this year (all the others just didn't reply!) so we really really appreciate being given a chance - THANKS HUW! xxx

We Love Spain!

The School recently spent a weekend in Spain where they met some very lovely people.

We played Murcia Sound Festival, alongside bands like Speedmarket Avenue, La Casa Azul, Kula Shaker, The 1990s and The Psychedelic Furs, and Liz fell in love with some crazy Japanese popmusic.

After that we played Brixton Windmill with The Foster Kids, Silence at Sea and The Spencer McGarry Season, with Chris OffBeat djing. We all went up on a bus and saw Dexter Fletcher at the traffic lights.

Me, Josh, Ceri + Harri also recorded a session for Selector Radio, (see Liz + Josh with the Big Brother sign below).

Then we had some lovely press + record cover photos taken by Alison Wonderland, then went to Norwich and played Queen Charlotte with The Foster Kids and The Middle Ones, they were great! And we met lots of elephants in the streets of Norwich, apparently there are 52 of them..
